WHY celebrate Bill Blass?
Bill Blass, a Fort Wayne local legend, was a powerful, creative force who revolutionized the fashion
world for decades. He was a decorated World War II hero, receiving the Congressional Gold Medal for
his service in the Ghost Army (awarded 2022) and presented in March 2024.
WHO is celebrating Bill Blass?
- Fort Wayne, Indiana. The “Blass Blast” 100-day extravaganza launched June 22, 2022 on what
would have been Blass’s 100th birthday. Mayor Tom Henry proclaimed this “Bill Blass Day”. There
are ongoing displays and special events for all ages to enjoy and learn about Bill Blass’ life. - Visitors. It’s an open invitation for visitors from around the country to come see the exhibits and
check out Blass tributes in the area. - Bill Blass Celebration Team. The team, led by Kathy Carrier, recognize the importance of
celebrating success (and likes to have fun) organized exhibits, events, tributes, and
permanent recognition for Bill Blass.
